Nightmare train travel

Standard

Travelling back up north today was a nightmare. Definately not the most quickest or straight-forward of trips I’ve done on the train.

The whole episode started at Rugby where I was expecting to catch the 12.42 train to Crewe, but then shortly found out that this train had been cancelled due to a smashed windscreen – I do hope the driver and everyone onboard was OK.

After waiting for an hour for the next train to arrive, there was a fair back-log of people waiting to board and so I found the carriages pretty well full and so with no spare seats had to stand all the way to Rugeley.

After making the change at Stoke on Trent for Manchester, I then found out that there was a football match on, with notices of allowing more time for travelling! The Metrolink was absolutely heaving and had to wait for the third one to come along before I could even attempt to try and squeeze on, which I did, and made the journey being squashed like a sardine.

Working in the Paddock

Standard

It’s been a rather busy couple of days this week with working in the paddock, involving wooden posts, stock fencing, barbed wire and the obligatory electric fencing!

As you can see above the job is coming along nicely and another couple of days should see it all but finished.
